Volunteer

The Snowflake Ball relies heavily on the gracious assistance and support of a large number of volunteers who help make the Ball a tremendous success year after year.

We are currently seeking reliable, enthusiastic, personable, and courteous individuals interested in supporting the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Inflammatory Bowel Disease Centre and Screen Colons Canada, making new friends, and playing an important role in the success of one of Canada’s most elegant and glamorous Charity Balls.

Volunteers have the option of either choosing between two shifts, or working both:

Day Shift: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

  • Important tasks include set-up of auction items and office supplies, moving and unpacking boxes, small tasks, etc.
  • Dress code is casual but professional
  • Lunch will be provided for those committing to a minimum of 4 hours
  • FYI, there is complimentary outdoor parking at both the Hilton Lac-Leamy hotel and the adjacent Casino du Lac Leamy

Evening Shift: 3:30 pm – 1:30 am
Don’t miss your opportunity to be a part of this extraordinary event – the highlight of Ottawa’s social season! Evening volunteers get to dress-up, interact with our distinguished guests, and bid in the unparalleled auctions.

  • A variety of volunteer roles are available
  • Volunteer training begins at 3:30pm, so please arrive dressed and ready to go
  • Attire for ball guests is black-tie and long gowns. Dress code for volunteers is formal attire. Men can wear a tuxedo, business suit, or shirt-and-tie (together with business/formal pants and lace-up shoes). Women can wear an evening gown, long formal dress, cocktail dress, or professional business suit
  • Buffet dinner and refreshments will be provided
  • Please note that evening shift volunteers will be required to stay until the end of the event, at 1:30 am, to help with pack-up and teardown. *There are some exceptions where volunteers must leave earlier - if this is the case, please indicate so as soon as possible.
  • FYI, there is complimentary outdoor parking at both the Hilton Lac-Leamy hotel and the adjacent Casino du Lac Leamy

High school students, in grades 11 and 12, are welcome to volunteer. The Snowflake Ball is a fun way to work towards your 40 volunteer hours and to secure a valuable reference.

Kindly note that a very limited number of volunteer opportunities are available.

To be considered as a volunteer, please send your full name and full contact information, a short resume, two references, your preferred volunteer shift, and confirmation of hours available to work, as soon as possible to:
