BENEFICIARIES
The 2010 Snowflake Ball is very excited that the proceeds from this premier black-tie event will benefit two extraordinary CRA-registered charities:
Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Inflammatory Bowel Disease Centre:
Providing the highest level of medical, nutritional and surgical care, the IBD Centre is also a leader in IBD (Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis) research and continues to find ways of providing improved care and support.
CHEO's Charitable Registration Number is 118852474RR001.
**AND NEW THIS YEAR - The Colorectal Cancer Screening Initiative Foundation (CCSIF):

A national charity whose mission is to inform every Canadian adult about the importance and benefits of screening for colorectal cancer through awareness and education. One in 15 Canadians will develop signs of colorectal cancer in their lifetime, but 8 in 10 are still not being tested. CCSIF would like to change that statistic.
CCSIF`s Charitable Registration Number is 870146321RR0001
The 3Cs - Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and Colorectal Cancer - are three chronic and serious illnesses that are just not discussed very often; but facts and statistics show that:
- Canada has the highest prevalence of Crohn’s Disease in the world
- There are about 10,000 new cases of IBD diagnosed each year in Canada and about 10% of those new cases diagnosed with IBD are under the age of 16
- Individuals with IBD have a higher risk of developing Colorectal Cancer and this risk increases every 10 years of having IBD
- Colorectal Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer mortality in Canada, next to lung cancer
- Physicians diagnose close to 19,200 patients with Colorectal Cancer each year in Canada and, out of that number, 8,400 will die each year
Your support of The Snowflake Ball will help change these very concerning statistics and will directly contribute to the health and well-being of the 3C community and to The Snowflake Ball’s commitment of raising much needed funds and boosting awareness for Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and Colorectal Cancer.
